Successful day for the dragons at Regional West Wales Prelims!

Megan gets 3rd in West Wales team!
Congratulations Megan on representing the West Area at 2017 Welsh National grade 5 competition on Saturday 18th March. Team placed third. Super proud of you!

3rd place for Powys boys
A big well done to all the Powys Schools Gymnastics Teams who competed in the Welsh Schools Tumble & Vault in Cardiff on March 9th. Big shout out to the boys under 11’s team coming away with 3rd place overall!

Ed passes National Judge certificate!
A big congratulations to coach Ed on passing his national judging certificate. What a massive achievement, with only two in Wales! Well done Ed!
Grades 6, 5 and 4 – 2017
6, 5 & 4 gymnasts travelled to Llanelli to compete in this years club grades competition. All 10 gymnasts passed with two commended and one distinction.
Megan came 4th overall in grade 5 and is through to represent west area in the Welsh national finals in Cardiff in two weeks.

Medals Galore at Deeside
Over 60 gymnasts travelled to Deeside Gymnastic club to compete on Saturday 22nd May in the annual tumble and vault competition.
200 gymnasts attended throughout the day, from Abby Road gymnastic club, Eryri Gymnastic club, Wrexham Gymnastic club and Deeside gymnastic club.
Our team brought a large array of medals home with them and many more photographs can be seen on the gallery page. Well done to all gymnasts, a fantastic day.
Diamond Performance at Cheerleading Display
On May 15th MDC Diamonds cheer team took part in the Mid Wales cheerleading display in Llanidloes. All 26 members of the MDC team performed at the display along with the Llani Dragonettes from Llanidloes and the Jets from Weston-Super-Mare.
The event was a fun day out for the Diamonds and a chance to show off their cheerleading routines. There was an amazing atmosphere throughout the day and all cheerleaders were awarded a participation trophy to take home.
In total the MDC Diamonds performed 6 routines. Our mini Diamonds (aged 3-8 years old) performed a pom routine and a cheer routine. The Junior 1 team (aged 6-14years) performed their first ever Level 2 cheer routine. The Junior 2 team (aged 9-14years) performed 3 routines in total, a pom and 2x Level 1 Cheer routines.
The MDC Diamonds gave a great performance and showed that they have improved so much since last year! Well Done Diamonds! Look on the gallery page for loads of great photographs from the display.
Two Regional Champions at ‘Gymspire’ Competition
Maldwyn Dragons travelled to Llanelli gymnastic club to take part in “Gymspire” for the first time, which is a regional, three apparatus competition. Well done girls for an excellent competition, particularly some gymnasts competing away from Powys for their first time and performing new routines. To top it all, we came home with two regional overall champions; Rosie in the under 12’s and Millie in the 12+ category.
The results were as follows:
Under 8’s – Megan 4th overall and Olivia 3rd on trampette. Team 3rd. Well done!
Under 10’s – Erin 3rd overall and Ffion 5th overall. Vault: Ffion 2nd and Erin 3rd. Maldwyn Dragons had two teams in this age group, both teams performed brilliantly achieving team 2nd and 3rd.
Under12’s – Overall winner Rosie 1st place, Eleanor 2nd, Carys 4th and Ylyssia 6th. Well done girls…first regional competition with a floor routine set to music. Vault: 1st Rosie, joint 2nd Eleanor and Carys, Floor: 1st Eleanor, 2nd Rosie, Trampette: 1st Eleanor, 3rd Rosie. Team 1st.
12+ Overall winner Millie 1st place, Katie 3rd and Shona 4th. Vault: 1st Millie, 2nd Shona, Floor: Millie 1st place. Well done girls, excellent results.

Young girls travel to Llanelli for Preparation Grades
Some of our female gymnasts travelled to Llanelli on 27th September to compete in the 5, 6 and 7 year old Preparation Grades competition. Even at this young age, it was a tough competition but the girls did us proud. The 5 year olds won a team silver medal with Daisy winning the 5th place ribbon for her vault and Chloe winning 6th place on floor. In the 6 year old category, Poppy took 6th place on bar and it was a double fifth place achievement for Megan, who competed in the 7 year old age group and was placed fifth for both bar and floor.
