On the 10th May we hosted our Annual A-Z Club competition which over 100 of our recreational gymnasts took part in! For many it was their first ever competiton and they all made us so proud. They all worked so hard to remember their routines and all performed extremely well!
We also hosted our Rainbow Competition for our Squad gymnasts who showcased their skills and gained more experience at performing in a competition environment. You all looked fantastic! A great day for everyone involved!
A huge congratulations to all our gymnasts who competed at this years Deeside Sets Competition! Deeside put on a great show with an ‘Under the Sea’ theme and we all had a fantastic time. Everyone performed amazingly and all came home with awards and big smiles on their faces! Well done gymnasts and coaches!
On the 5th-6th April our Preparation 3 gymnasts took to the stage to compete at their first ever Welsh Grades Competition. Both Willow and Darcey passed their grades with flying colours! The girls performed beautifully and enjoyed every minute of it! A fantastic achievement!
Next up was Francesca… She was aiming to complete her final grade (Performance 4) before heading off to University in September. Not only did Francesca pass her grade, she achieved 1st on Vault, 2nd on Range, 3rd on Bars and 3rd Overall which means she has qualified to represent Wales and the British Finals in May!!
We are so proud of you Francesca! What a way to finish off your gymnastics journey at Maldwyn Dragons!
Preparation and Development Grades
A huge congratulations to Beca, Ellie, Macie, Mia and Meg who performed their hearts out at the North Area Grades last weekend. All gymnasts passed their grades with flying colours and enjoyed the whole experience!

On Saturday 26th October we hosted our annual Tumble & Vault competition for all our recreational gymnasts.
We had nearly 100 entries for the competition which made it an excellent show for gymnasts and specators!
As you’ll see from the photos below, there were many happy gymnasts with a huge amount of medals, certificates and trophies received!

This year saw our first ever Summer Showcase, and it was a blast!!
It gave all of our squad gymnasts the opportunity to strut their stuff in a fun, relaxed environment. They put together their own routines with the bonus of no rules and no judges! They were able show off the skills they love in front of all their families and friends.
Thank you to all our families for making it such a lovely atmosphere for the gymnasts, it was an absolute pleasure having you all in the gym with us.
On Sunday 7th July, our recreational gymnasts performed at our annual A-Z Competition infront of families and friends. They did so well in the competition environment and made our coaches and parents proud! The top 5 gymnasts in each catagory will now go through to the regional competition in Kington in a couple of weeks to represent Maldwyn Dragons Gymnastics Club! Well done everyone!
On the 20th and 21st April 2024, our development squad competed at Deeside Gymnastics Academy in the North Prelims tumble and vault competition. There were 450 gymnasts competing! For some gymnasts this was their first time competing in a competition and we had some fantastic results:
Phase 1 age 7 yrs: Erin 1st on floor and Vault and 1st overall.
Phase 1 in age 8yrs: Macie 5th on Vault, 4th on Floor and 4th overall. Team 5th out of 12 teams.
Phase 2 in age 8yrs: Bella 5th on Vault, Jess 4th on Vault, Millie 2nd on Vault. Jess 4th on Floor, Millie 3rd on Floor, Jess 4th and Millie 1st Overall. Team 1st overall.
Phase 1 9 in year: Olivia 2nd on tumble.
Phase 2 10 in the year: Tess 4th Esme 2nd on Vault. Mari 6th and Tess 4th Overall, Team 2nd.
Phase 3 age 11-12yrs: Logan 1st on Vault, 3rd on Floor and 2nd overall.
Phase 1 age 11-12: Bella 6th on Floor.

In March, 20 of our squad gymnasts competed in a fun 4 piece competition up at Deeside Gymnastics Academy, it was a fantastic weekend with super results and lots of medals and many happy faces! Well done to all who competed.
This year we had 9 gymnasts complete their Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Grades up in Deeside. They all worked so hard in the lead up to this competiton and all walked away with smiles on their faces after passing their grades with flying colours! We are so proud of you girls, you all deserved it!
