Our head coach, Julia Rees, has been nominated as Community Coach of the Year and found out this week that she has been shortlisted as one of the three finalists for this Sport Wales Award.  The winner will be decided by their judging panel and announced at the Sport Wales Presentation Evening on Monday 8th December.  BBC Cymru Wales will be covering the ceremony in Cardiff, so lets hope Julia comes home with the award.

Julia is delighted by this acknowledgment of her achievements over the past year but equally pleased with the fantastic progress and dedication shown by her coaches and gymnasts alike.

Maldwyn Dragon’s is a club that’s going places.

 

Five of our boys travelled down to Swansea on Sunday to compete in the Welsh Preparation and Club Grades competition.  Well done to Ashton, Ishe, Finlay, Jack and Stan who represented Maldwyn Dragon’s boys so proudly and particular congratulations to Stan to won a bronze medal in his grade three category.  It was a great achievement to have learnt their routines on all seven pieces of apparatus (some of which are still very new to us) and compete against the bigger South Wales clubs.  A wonderful performance and now that we’re established in our new premises, it’s just the start of greater things to come.

At last, we’re in our new home.  The first classes started on Monday 14th July so if you haven’t booked up already, do take a look at what’s on offer in our new facility.  Whether it’s artistic gymnastics, cheer-leading, trampolining, free style gymnastics or funtastic sessions within the summer holidays – we’ve got something for everyone of all ages.  Check out the first few photographs from Tuesday’s class on the Gallery page!

Exciting times ahead – the new facility is taking shape!

Our new home at Unit 14, Mochdre Industrial Estate has been cleaned, ceilings sprayed, walls painted, windows created, toilets sanitised, floors mopped, office space created and is approaching readiness for the first phase of equipment to be delivered this week.  A huge thank you to everyone who has helped thus far and don’t forget there’s no gym classes over 11th and 12th July whilst we make the final transition into the new building.  Here’s a sneak preview of the floor plan so you’ll know what to expect!
