Massive well done to all our Diamonds who competed at our club competition last week

Maldwyn Dragons Sport Leaders were very busy during the last lockdown, attending lots of online courses and increasing their knowledge and coaching techniques ready for the return to face to face coaching.
Well done to Maisy, Francesca, Ffion, Olivia, Loyce, Poppy and Cole.  

Courses attended by Maisy were:
Into to British Sign language
British gymnastic introduction to judging
Welsh Gymnastics working with participants with disabilities workshop
Maisy also received a certificate for demonstrating a high level of commitment and excellent contribution to WG sports leader sessions

Engaging young people
Warm up and cool down games
Developing basic shapes
Strength and conditioning
Apparatus workshop

As restrictions (and weather!) allowed, we started outdoor training. It was a welcome change after all the virtual sessions. Here are a few photos of what we got up to!

As the start of the year has been very challenging for the girls, we decided to have an Easter online Party. Lots of fun was had by all, crafting, baking and online bingo! We also handed out the medals and certificates for achievements in the term.

We challenged our gymnasts to complete the virtual ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ by climbing the stairs in their homes, during our online sessions. They climbed a massive 24,338 steps – the height of Snowdon, Pen y Fan and Cadair Idris combined!

Well done to all gymnasts who took part in this year’s grades competitions in Llanelli. I am amazed at the “Dragons” extreme determination….motivation…pure grit and super positive attitude today at West Area grades.

Fabulous results in every age group. Well done Ladies, what an achievement.

Congratulations to Olivia who finished 4th on Bar, 9th on Range & Conditioning and 13th overall (out of 40) at Grade 2.

Congratulations to Francesca who finished 3rd on Bar, 7th on Range & Conditioning and 8th overall  (out of 38) at Grade 1.
